What is BQS?
Bournemouth Quality Standards. (BQS)

Bournemouth, as a resort, has set up its own inspections to ensure that establishments, of all sizes, are providing a quality that is acceptable to the type of establishment the guest books. If you would like a copy of the standards they are available from the Visitor Information Bureau 0845 0511700 (local call rate) This inspection is generally taken by establishments who do not wish to buy grading from the AA or the English Tourism Council on the star rating system.

What is the Star rating system?
From 2008 any establishment that decides to pay for an inspection with English Tourism Council or the AA, will be graded from 1 to 5 stars under various headings i.e. Hotel, Small Hotel, B&B, Inn, Farm House, Guest Accommodation, Guest House, Metro Hotel and Budget hotel. Within each category there is a rating from 1 star (signifying basic provision of hospitality and cleanliness) to 5 stars (signifying the highest level of service and facilities). Full details of the rating system and what you should look out for can be found on www.theaa.co.uk

Will my children be safe on Boscombe Spa Beach?
Provided you contact the RNLI life guard station on arrival and ensure your child has a Kidz Zone coloured tag, it will help with their safety. If your child should wander off it is easier for the life guard to find the area they have come from. In the sea there will be flags denoting the conditions and it essential that you abide by these for your safety and your child's. Whilst you will always need to keep an eye on the children we hope that the area has been made safer with life guards watching the beach all the time.

If you would like a beach for a day or longer they can be reserved through Bournemouth Tourism on 01202 451781.

Beach wheelchairs are available from Seafront Offices for ease of access onto our beaches. Parking is available on the beach front.
